Choking Awareness and Basis Life Support training course





This awareness course has been designed to help    staff working in both the adult or paediatric setting in recognising the signs and symptoms of someone who is suffering from the obstruction of their airways.  The delegates will also be taught how to manage and  deal with a casualty who is suffering from either a partial  or complete aiwary obstruction . This course  also teaches the delegates how to administer basic life support including Cardio Pulmonary resusucitation in a casualty who is unconscious and  not breathing.






 2.5 to 3 hours (Depending on size of group)

  • Signs and symptoms of choking
  • Recognising partial and complete obstruction of the airway
  • Managing a choking emergency
  • Basic Life Support
  • Adult and Paediatric Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Recovery Position
  • Accident reporting

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor. 





A HSE compliant certificate of course completion  from MEDISAFE TRAINING  lasting 3 years will be emailed within 48 hours to the lead person subject to successful completion of the course by the delegate. Hard copy certificates can be provided at additional cost per certificate. 



Important Information


Please note that delegates must be at least 18 years of age and be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline and must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.


Delegates should have good English literacy and numeracy skills to understand the course and to complete the assessments.


Please also note that  ID will need to be checked at the outset of the course for candidate verification process. 


  • The training room should be quiet and of appropriate size.
  • Staff should be off work and not expected to be on duty.
  • Staff attending should remain on the course for the entire duration of the training course.
