Description

 

This course is designed to equip learners with the necessary skills to deal with and manage Catastrophic Bleeding. This course advises on the inherent dangers associated with the use of Tourniquets and Haemostatic Dressings, whilst administering first aid in a high risk environment for the purpose of saving life. It has been developed to meet the requirements of industries that consider themselves to be at high risk following a suitable and sufficient risk assessment. This course teaches the delegates the necessary skills, knowledge and expertise on how to apply a Tourniquet and Haemostatic dressings in  the event of an emergency.

 

 

Duration

 

This course is taught over 3 hours and consists of theoretical and practical sessions. The class ratio for this course is a maximum of 12 learners to 1 Trainer/Assessor.



Prerequisite

 

All learners must hold an in date Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work certificate. Please note that a copy of the certificate will be required prior to enrolment of the delegate on to the course.

Assessment 


Assessment is ongoing by the instructor. There may be a short quiz at the end of the course which includes multiple choice and short answer questions.

 

 

Certification

 

Course completion certificates from MEDISAFE TRAINING will be emailed within 72 hours to the course organiser subject to successful completion of the course by the delegate. All learners must hold an in date Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work certificate. Please note that a copy of the certificate will be required prior to enrolment of the delegate on to the course.



Important Information 

 

Please note that delegates must be at least 18 years of age and be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline and must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.

 

Delegates should have good English literacy and numeracy skills to understand the course and to complete the assessments.

 

Please also note that ID will need to be checked at the outset of the course for candidate verification process. 

 

  • The training room should be quiet and of appropriate size.
  • Staff should be off work and not expected to be on duty.
  • Staff attending should remain on the course for the entire duration of the training course.
