Description 

 

This in house awarenes course has been designed to provide delegates with a general understanding of Health and Safety issues in the workplace. This course provides delegates with an understanding of current health and safety rules and regulations  and explains the  responsibilities of both the employer and employees. Delegates will also learn how to deal with reporting of any accidents or incidents, should they occur.  This course is an introduction to health and safety in the workplace and can form part of an employee’s induction programme or a basis for a learner wishing to gain higher levels of training in this area. The course content of this course provides learners with a basic knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace under UK health and safety legislation ensuring that the working environment is safe and healthy.


 

Duration


This course is taught over 2.5 to 3 hours.

  • Understand the importance of health, safety and welfare standards in the workplace
  • State how the duties of employers contribute to a healthy and safe workplace
  • State how the duties of employees contribute to a healthy and safe workplace
  • Outline suitable workplace welfare arrangements
  • Know how hazards and risks are controlled  in the workplace
  • Identify how hazards and risks contribute to workplace risk assessments
  • State the importance of workers following procedures at work
  • Outline how to use methods for controlling risk in the workplace
  • Be aware of the main causes and effects of poor health and safety at work
  • Outline the main causes of workplace injury
  • Outline the main causes of workplace ill health
  • Outline the reasons why accidents occur
  • State the effects of accidents at work
  • Outline the need to report accidents and near misses at work
  • Understand how health and safety information is communicated in the workplace
  • Identify the main safety signs and signals found in the workplace
  • List sources of health and safety information found in the workplace
  • State the importance of workers notifying health and safety concerns to their employer

Assessment

 

The qualification is assessed by a written assessment. A learner must successfully pass the written assessment to achieve the qualification. There is no grading of the assessment; learners pass or are referred. The learner will complete a written assessment paper containing open and/or  multiple choice questions .


 

Certification

 

A HSE compliant certificate of course completion from MEDISAFE TRAINING will be emailed within 48 hours to the lead person subject to successful completion of the course by the delegate. Hard copy certificates can be provided at additional cost per certificate.


OFQUAL Accredited and Regulated RQF Level 1 Health and Safety in the Workplace or OFQUAL Accredited and Regulated RQF Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace  training  course with certificates can also be arranged at an additional cost but this must be made known to us at the time of the booking and prior to the commencement of the training course.


 

Important Information

 

Please note that the candidates should have satisfactory English literacy and numeracy skills to understand the course and to complete any assessments.

 

Please also note that  ID will need to be checked at the outset of the course for candidate verification process.

 

  • The training room should be quiet and of appropriate size.
  • Staff should be off work and not expected to be on duty.
  • Staff attending should remain on the course for the entire duration of the training course.
